Virus Removal:
For your convenience, we provide three different virus removal options.
Option 1—Windows Reload - $50
With this option, we will:
  • Format your hard drive
  • Reinstall Windows
  • Install all drivers
  • Install OS updates and patches
  • Re-install standard software provided by customer
This effectively restores your computer to factory defaults resulting in virus-free operation. If you have important data that is not backed up elsewhere, you should consider option 2.

Option 2—Backup, Reload, Restore - $100
This option includes all of the steps above. The difference is that Option 2 includes a backup and restoration of the important data on your computer. We will store an “image” of your virus-infected hard drive for 30 days. That way if you get your computer home and realize that there are important files that you forgot to have us restore, we can still recover them for you.
NOTE: Only files can be backed up and restored using this process. Software will have to be reinstalled from the original CD’s.

Option 3—Virus extraction - $50/hour
If there’s a reason why your computer cannot be formatted and reinstalled, we can attempt a removal of the viruses and a Windows repair. With modern viruses, it is impossible to predict the amount of time it will take to remove them, or the amount of damage to the operating system and files that has occurred.
Virus-Related FAQ’s

What is a virus?
When we refer to viruses, we’re often actually referring “Malware”, a category of computer programs that includes viruses, spyware, and adware. This software is unwanted software that causes a variety of computer problems. Viruses are typically designed to spread to other computers, or other areas of the infected computer. Often the end result is deleted or corrupted files which can affect your data, or cause the computer to function improperly.

Where did I get a virus?
Viruses can come from many sources, but the most common are:
  • “Bad” websites
  • Email
  • Peer-to-peer file-sharing applications (like Limewire)
How can I keep this from happening again?
There are a few basic pointers that can help protect your computer.
  • Only visit reputable websites
  • Don’t open suspicious email or email from senders you don’t recognize
  • Turn off “preview pane” in your email software
  • Back up your data (check out our online backup service)
  • Don’t use Limewire or any other Peer-to-peer file sharing software. We remove more viruses that came from Limewire than from any other source
  • Use good Anti-virus software and make sure it stays up-to-date. We recommend and sell AVG, but there are many good software packages to choose from. The important thing is to keep it updated. Out-dated virus software doesn’t help anybody.
